Remembering Steven “Craig” Thompson: A Legacy of Service, Kindness, and Dedication

Steven “Craig” Thompson — a thoughtful presence who gave his heart to our teens, Special Olympics athletes, and every member he mentored.

Dear Boys & Girls Club Supporters,

It is with heavy hearts that we reflect on the life and service of Steven “Craig” Thompson, a dedicated Youth Development Professional at the Cleveland Boys & Girls Club. During his time with us, Craig faithfully led and mentored the teens in our Teen Department while also serving as our Special Olympics instructor and coach, as well as an ACT Prep teacher. Though his time with us was short-lived, with May making one year of his employment, the impact he made on our Club, our members, and our staff will never be forgotten.

Craig was the kind of person who always showed up — on time, dependable, and ready to do whatever was needed to get the job done. His hard work, dedication, and willingness to go above and beyond for children and anyone he encountered spoke volumes about his character. He had an easygoing spirit that made others feel comfortable, yet he uplifted those around him in his own special way. Whether it was offering encouragement, lending a helping hand, or surprising members and staff with a box of cookies just to brighten their day, Craig showed love through simple but meaningful acts of kindness.

He poured his heart into the youth he served, especially through mentoring teens, coaching Special Olympics participants, and preparing students for future success through ACT instruction. His patience, consistency, and caring nature made a lasting impression on so many lives.

While we are deeply saddened by this tremendous loss, it does our hearts good to know that we had the opportunity to serve alongside him and witness the difference he made in the lives of others. Craig’s presence, compassion, and dedication will truly be missed throughout our Club and community.

We extend our heartfelt prayers and deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. May they find comfort, strength, and peace during this difficult time. Craig’s legacy of service, kindness, and commitment to youth will forever remain a part of the Boys & Girls Club of Cleveland family.

Thanks so much,
