A Day Down on the Farm: Grenada Club's Fall Adventure at Bull Bottom Farms
Here at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Delta, we believe in creating unforgettable experiences that spark joy and curiosity in our members. This past week, Ms. Alenda Buchanan, our Unit Director in Grenada, did just that by organizing a fantastic field trip for 17 of our Club members to the incredible Bull Bottom Farms in Duck Hill, Mississippi!
The excitement was palpable from the moment the vans pulled out. For some of our kids, this was their very first time on a farm, and the sheer ecstasy on their faces as we arrived was a memory we'll always cherish.
The adventure began immediately, with free-roaming bunnies hopping around to greet us—a sight that caused an absolute fit of delight! From there, the kids explored every corner of the farm. The giant slide brought out a mix of bravery and hesitation in our littler members, but after watching the older kids fearlessly take the plunge, they found the courage to try it themselves. That’s the power of our Club community in action!
We have to give a special shout-out to two of our fantastic members, Madison and Annie, who were amazing helpers throughout the day. They patiently encouraged the younger kids, guiding them and cheering them on as they tried new activities. Our entire group was so respectful to our guide and listened to instructions beautifully, making us incredibly proud.
The fun kept coming with go-kart races, where Adrian proved to be our undisputed champion, winning every heat with speed and a big smile! But if we had to pick a universal favorite, it might just have been the corn pit. The simple joy of being "absolutely buried" in corn was a hit with everyone.
We were also thrilled to have a few grandmothers join us for the day, and they were just as astounded and impressed as the kids were by the wonderful world Bull Bottom Farms has created for families.
The perfect end to a perfect day? Each child got to carefully select their very own favorite pumpkin to take home, a sweet souvenir from a day filled with laughter and learning.
