Giving Back to the Community with Community Health Fair

On May 18, our Yazoo City Club hosted an exceptional community health fair. This event marked a significant effort by the Club to give back to the community and promote the overall well-being of its residents. The health fair brought together various vendors and organizations, each offering a wide range of essential services. With a focus on health and community support, this event showcased the Club's commitment to creating a healthier and stronger Mississippi Delta.

Collaboration and Community Support: The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Delta collaborated with esteemed organizations and vendors to make the community health fair a resounding success. Among the participants were United Health Care, Warren Yazoo Prevention Behavioral Health, American Red Cross, GACFHC Wic, MS Shine, Care 4 Me, and GA Carmichael. Their dedication and involvement played a vital role in providing invaluable services to the community.

Comprehensive Services for the Community: The community health fair offered a broad range of services tailored to meet the diverse needs of the attendees. The participating vendors ensured that visitors had access to essential resources and support. Some of the key services provided during the event included:

  1. COVID-19 Vaccinations and Boosters: United Health Care administered up-to-date COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots to those in need. As an incentive, they generously offered $50 gift cards, further promoting the importance of vaccination within the community.

  2. Health Assessments: Attendees could avail themselves of various health assessments, including blood pressure checks, iron level testing, and other preventive health measures. Warren Yazoo Behavioral Health played a pivotal role in offering these services.

  3. Community Support: American Red Cross and G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center WIC provided critical support and information on community resources, ensuring that individuals had access to the necessary assistance in times of need.

  4. Additional Services: MS Shine, Care 4 Me, and G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center were instrumental in offering a wide array of services, such as free phone service, tornado safety education, credit union advice, and much more. These comprehensive services addressed various aspects of community well-being.

The success of events like the community health fair hinges on the continued support of generous individuals and organizations. As the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Delta strive to make a lasting impact in the community, they rely on the kindness and dedication of donors. By supporting the Club through monthly donations, you can help create a safer, healthier, and more prosperous Mississippi Delta for our children and families. Your contribution will ensure the continuation of vital initiatives that uplift the community.
